Higher Level Teaching Assistant

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the CF24 area of Cardiff. This role would suit a confident practitioner who can hit the ground running, adapt quickly to the needs of the school, and support children across a range of abilities and year groups.

The successful candidate will be:

  Nurturing, caring, and patient, with a genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and wellbeing.

• 
  

  Experienced in a primary setting, with a good understanding of classroom practice and the ability to lead small groups or whole-class sessions when required.

• 
  

  Flexible and reliable, able to adapt to different roles and responsibilities within the school day.

• 
  

  Ideally experienced in supporting children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN/SEN), including those with behavioural, social, or communication needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  Deliver planned lessons or interventions under the direction of the class teacher or SENCO.

• 
  

  Provide targeted support to pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis.

• 
  

  Contribute to planning, assessment, and record-keeping.

• 
  

  Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.

• 
  

  Support with classroom management and promote positive behaviour.

Requirements:

  HLTA qualification (or equivalent experience).

• 
  

  Proven experience working in a primary school setting.

• 
  

  Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• 
  

  A proactive, can-do attitude and willingness to be part of a supportive team.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
