Location:Caterham, Surrey and then moving to Chaldon, Surrey (RH1 3DB) from the summer term of 5.
Actual salary:£, - £, dependant on qualificationsPlus £0 Welcome bonus For HLTA with SEN Experience

Hourly rate: £. - £. per hour

Hours: hours per week Term Time only - Start time 8.am - Finish time Monday/Wednesday/Thursday 4.pm. Tuesday 5pm and Friday 4pm

Aurora Caterham Education Centre (CEC)

We’re currently looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant for our school. You will support the Class teacher with all elements of the day to day running of the class and to teach whole classes, groups and individual lessons in consultation with the Class Teacher on a regular basis across a range of classes. They also will run interventions in groups and 1:1.

Aurora Chaldon School and its satellite Caterham Education Centre 

Chaldon School will be opening as a new school in the summer of 5. At this time, Caterham Education Centre will join this registration and become a satellite of Chaldon School. As one school, both sites will share the same Leadership, Admin, Therapy and Teaching teams. Students will have access to the same curriculum, opportunities and resources across both sites.

Key Duties:

Pupil Welfare and Safeguarding

Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils according to the school’s policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT. Provide meaningful feedback on pupil behaviour, relationships and attitudes. Monitor pupils conduct and behaviour throughout the learning process and intervene to resolve highly complex, difficult or very challenging issues and to keep records of incidents, health, behaviour etc. as necessary Promote pupils’ cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical development and spiritual well-being. Work with pupils on therapy or care programmes, designed and supervised by a therapist/care professional during timetabled sessions.

Supporting Teaching and Learning

To lead in the absence of any Class Teachers across the school. Assist the Class Teacher with carrying out the professional duties of a teacher as outlined in the Professional Standards for Teachers. Know and understand the Class Teacher’s curriculum planning and to plan, prepare and deliver assigned programmes of teaching and learning activities to individual, small groups and/or classes modifying and adapting activities as necessary within agreed systems of supervision. Reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers Take an active role in key areas of responsibility across the school including displays and organising resource. Develop and implement individual plans for pupils (such as the educational elements in an EHCP), including attendance at, and contribution to, reviews if requested.

Skills and Qualifications

The Higher Level Teaching Assistant Diploma or equivalent Level 4 qualification, or demonstrate equivalent skill level. GCSE pass above C grade 4 in English and Maths
