The Role:
You will work as part of a team of operational Health Physics Technicians at Raynesway within the Core Production business unit. The vacancy is primarily based at the testing and instrument calibration facility on the Neptune Nuclear Licensed site where ~half your time will be spent calibrating radiation protection instrumentation, and the other half supporting routine monitoring and compliance duties

What you’ll be doing:
You willundertake workplace monitoring for radiological hazards (radiation, and surface and airborne contamination).
Keep accurate records of monitoring undertaken and create reports to identify trends in results. Ensure radiation protection control measures are adequately implemented at the point of work through adherence to written procedures, safe systems of work and local rules. Respond to urgent request for health physics monitoring support. Carry out radiological monitoring equipment calibrations and daily checks prior to use. Support environmental permitting compliance activities such as liquid and gaseous effluent analysis, and waste monitoring. Provide cover for overtime, shifts and on-call support when required.

You are expected to use computers for office work such as emailing, documenting activities, trending results, and submitting safety observations. Motivated and flexible. You need to be able to use your own initiative and judgement (within the scope of the role), identify and implement improvements in working procedures, and respond to the ever-changing operational environment. A formal qualification such as the NVQ Level 2 in Radiation Protection OR City and Guilds Radiation Safety Practice Stage 1 is desirable. Experience working as a Health Physics Technician within the Nuclear Industry is desirable

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality.
