Head of Product Design
Salary £70-80,000 + benefits
Location: West Midlands
You will have experience manager and leader of people within the Product Design and NPI launch environment and as the ‘go-to’ person for other departments you will be able to protect the design intent throughout the execution phase of the project to successful market launch
Duties/Responsibilities
o Manage & lead the design & NPI team in the creation of innovative and market-leading products from concept to market launch
o Develop and manage design workload and deliverables
o Collaborate with marketing, engineering, manufacturing and marketing teams to ensure designs are feasible, cost-effective, and aligned with market needs
o Oversee the development of design prototypes and coordinate testing to validate design concepts
o Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and company quality guidelines
o Stay updated on industry trends, competitor products, and technological advancements to inform design decisions
o Mentor and develop a team of designers and NPI projects, fostering a creative and collaborative work environment
o Present design concepts and progress updates to senior management, board members and stakeholders
Personal Specification
o HND/ Degree level qualification, ideally Product Design Engineering, Mechanical or Industrial Design Engineering
o Proven people management experience in a product design & development and project launch environment
o Experience in the consumer goods, household appliances, fenestration or similar high volume FMCG product development
o Experience in plastic manufacturing processes, product assembly & tooling
o Ability to motivate your team to identify, solve, implement and verify technical solutions autonomously
o Creative and positive attitude with an inquisitive nature
