Head of Electronics and Electrical Engineering – West London or Dorset (Hybrid) – Competitive Salary + Bonus + Ex. Benefits – Permanent


Primary Purpose:

Hands-on Electronic and Electrical Engineering Lead, ensuring excellence in analogue, digital, and mixed-signal electronics. Driving resource management, oversee project execution, and promote innovation, while balancing technical leadership with team development and ensuring compliance. The role shapes engineering capabilities to support growth and defence projects.

  • Technical Expertise & Governance– Ensure best practices in analogue, digital, and mixed-signal electronics, driving technical excellence across projects.
  • Team Leadership & Development– Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of excellence and growth.
  • Strategic Resource Management– Lead recruitment, optimise team capacity, and ensure projects are staffed with qualified personnel.
  • Project & Bid Leadership– Shape technical strategies, contribute to bids, and oversee project execution to meet business goals.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration– Work closely with other departments to align resources, share expertise, and deliver complex projects.
  • Innovation & Future Capabilities– Develop underrepresented skills within the team, integrate new technologies, and stay ahead of industry trends.
  • Regulatory & Security Compliance– Support export permissions, navigate cybersecurity standards, and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Design for Excellence– Prioritise manufacturability, supportability, and cost efficiency in all engineering outputs.


Skills and Expertise Required:

Electronics Expertise– Strong knowledge of analogue, digital, and mixed-signal electronics, ideally within Defence/Aerospace.

Leadership & Team Management– Experience leading and developing engineering teams, fostering technical excellence.

Strategic Thinking– Ability to align engineering capabilities with business growth and project goals.

Project & Process Governance– Skilled in managing technical projects, ensuring compliance, and driving process improvements.

Security Clearance & Eligibility– Sole British national with SC clearance due to UK Eyes Only work.
