What you will do
You will be involved in the test of highly advanced systems within the Radar and Advanced Targeting product group. In the process, you’ll learn about modern EMC standards and testing methodologies, gain experience with a variety of specialist test equipment, and be part of the development process for our next generations of products.
As part of the EMC team in Edinburgh you will also be involved in maintaining the facility’s accredited status as a UKAS Test Laboratory and will work closely with external project engineers to ensure smooth integration of their equipment through test.
Key Responsibility Areas
Work as part of a team responsible for early development lifecycle pre compliance test, design for EMC investigations, EMC safety of flight test and formal product qualification test. Developing knowledge on and performing EMC test to Defence and Aviation standards such as MIL-STD-461, DO-160, DEF STAN 59-411 and the Eurofighter EMC specification. The products you will work on are mainly airborne including world leading ESCAN Radar, Electronic Counter Measures and Laser Designators. This will include current and future product lines that form part of the avionics suite on multiple platforms. Play an active role in being a team player, taking a proactive approach to working with colleagues and customers, supporting test readiness reviews, during product integration, periods of investigation and EMC test. Support the team in facility upkeep through equipment calibration and maintenance via our subcontract partners, while promoting Safety, Health and Environment duties and practices. Engage as required in facility audits, including internal quality, external AS9100D and ISO17025 in support of continued facility UKAS accreditation. Maintaining, updating and creating documentation including procedures and test reports required for formal accredited test. Take an active role in your personal development through on the job training and via taught courses aligned with business need and career development.
What we are looking for
Qualifications
All of our roles require (a) a minimum of an upper Second class Bachelors/Integrated Masters degree, or (b) a higher degree, such as a MSc or PhD. In all cases the subject should be engineering, mathematics, physics or another relevant STEM discipline.
