This specialist consultancy provides numerical modelling expertise for a wide variety of industries, notably in aerospace and defence. Their bespoke simulation software allows them to explore complex high energy multiphysics scenarios which would be nearly impossible to replicate experimentally.

You would develop models and carry out investigations to predict how materials behave in extreme environments (for instance being subjected to hypersonic flows, shock waves etc.). Your material knowledge and understanding of physics will allow you to identify any issues in the simulations. The company place a high value on career development, and training is available where needed, as is the possibility of taking on project management tasks if desired.

You will need:

  • 1st in Aerospace Engineering, or a Mechanical Engineering subject with a strong materials emphasis from a top university, along with strong grades in Maths and Physics at A-level (or equivalent).
  • Strong multiphysics/computational fluid dynamics modelling skills.
  • As you may be involved in government projects, you must be a UK national (with no other nationality) residing in the UK for the past 5 years.
  • Knowledge of any of the following would enhance your application: aerothermodynamics, compressible flows, chemically reacting flows, and turbulent flows

A competitive salary, benefits, generous holiday allowance, and training opportunities are on offer to the successful candidate. The company offer hybrid working with up to two days a week from home where tasks permit.

Keywords: Scientific Computing, Computational Fluid Dynamics, CFD, Multiphysics, Simulation, Numerical modelling, Aerospace, Defence, Consultancy, South Coast
