The Role:

Here at Survitec, we are currently recruiting for a Garment and Pattern Designer to join our Wearables & Leisure team based in Gosport.

Key responsibilities for the Garment and Patter Designer role include but are not limited to:

·Creates master patterns for each size within a range of garment sizes using charts, drafting instruments, computers or grading devices. Ensures patterns include all notation to ensure they are accurately followed by production colleagues (including joins, positions of pleats, pockets, buttonholes and other features). Adapts or draws new patterns as needed

·Effectively translates design specifications and original models of garments into the separate pattern pieces needed for each garment and determines the best layout of pattern pieces to minimise material waste

·Compute dimensions of patterns according to sizes, considering stretching of material

·Produces master or sample patterns using appropriate equipment. Marks samples and finished patterns with information, such as garment size, section, style, identification and sewing instructions

·Creates design specifications that provide instructions on garment sewing and assembly

·Uses industry technology to assist with pattern design and cutting

·Tests patterns by making and fitting sample garments, adjusting patterns as needed after fittings

·Examines sketches, sample articles, and design specifications to determine quantities, shapes, and sizes of pattern parts and to determine the amount of material or fabric required to make a product

·Performs a range of site maintenance activities, troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment and systems for emergency repairs. Carries out preventive maintenance inspections

·Helps to install complex systems and conducts inspections of that equipment with guidance

·Follows Survitec HS&E policies, procedures and mandatory instructions, identifying and mitigating risks to safeguard the environment and the wellbeing of self and others

·Conducts complex analysis, quality tests and inspections requiring a high level of independent judgment

·Develops knowledge and understanding of Survitec’s policies and procedures; relevant regulatory codes, and codes of conduct to ensure own work adheres to those standards. Obtains authorisation from a supervisor or manager for any exceptions from mandatory procedure

·Implements improvements in manufacturing methods and processes, providing feedback on the impact of those changes
