We are seeking an experienced Freelance Engineer to join a major Ministry of Defence (MOD) project based at RAF Wyton, Cambridgeshire. This is a long-term freelance role (potential to extend up to 2 years), working via a PAYE umbrella company in line with IR35 regulations.

Due to the nature of the work, SC (Security Clearance) is essential.

Key Responsibilities:



Provide engineering support across the full project lifecycle

*

Support integration, testing, and compliance activities

*

Collaborate with MOD stakeholders and contractors

*

Ensure delivery aligns with security and technical standards

Required Experience:

*

Background in defence, aerospace, or secure infrastructure projects

*

Strong understanding of engineering processes, documentation, and risk management

*

Must hold active SC clearance or be willing to undergo vetting.

*

Able to work full-time on-site at RAF Wyton

*

Engagement must be via PAYE umbrella (Inside IR35)

Desirable Skills:

*

Chartered or working toward chartered status (CEng/IEng)

*

Familiarity with MOD standards such as JSPs and DEF STANs

*

Systems, infrastructure, or multi-disciplinary engineering experience
