Job Summary

As the Electrical Maintenance Team Leader youll be based at our Luton manufacturing facility, reporting to the Works Engineering and Facilities Leader. Leading a small team within Maintenance and Facilities you will plan the effective delivery of Maintenance & Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) including breakdown support across the Luton site.

With a strong background and experience in Electrical Engineering with the relevant experience on machinery and process you will ensure effective handover and hand back arrangements with production teams. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of work complies with all site requirements and plant and personnel are operating within the safety envelope and comply with legislative, regulatory and company procedures and standards e.g. safety, quality, risk, security as appropriate to the role.

As Electrical Maintenance Team Leader youll lead a team of five Electrical Maintenance colleagues, creating an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture ensuring team and individual training takes place to agreed standards and timeframe. You will be responsible for distributing team workload, organising the team in response to unplanned events and manage workload across the team.

The successful incumbent will be required to work a weekly alternating shift pattern.Week 1: Monday to Thursday 6am to 2pm and Friday 6am to 11am.Week 2: Monday to Thursday 2pm to 10pm and Friday 11am to 4pm. (Please note during training & induction period there will be the requirement to work operational hours: 07:30 - 16:30 Monday to Thursday & 07:30 - 12:30 Friday).

Job Responsibilities

  • Effective delivery of Maintenance & Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) including breakdown support across the Luton manufacturing site.
  • Liaising and building close working relationships with the site operational teams such Group Leaders, Team Leaders, Operators and other GKN stakeholders.
  • Communicating goals and deadlines to team members
  • Planning workloads and delegating tasks
  • Creating a productive work environment for the team with appropriate strategies
  • Assessing team performance and providing feedback to employees
  • Assisting with hiring and training employees
  • Assisting with the daily operation of the organisation
  • Performing internal customer service, including interacting with internal departments and answering questions
  • Providing teams with information about recent developments, programmes and policy changes of management
  • Coach team members
  • Develop team strengths and identify and improve in areas for development

Profile description:How You'll Contribute

To help us make a difference, youll bring your passion and talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:

Essential:

  • Electrical Engineering City & Guilds qualification or relevant NVQ
  • Completion of a relevant apprenticeship
  • Extensive experience as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer, working within a maintenance, industrial maintenance environment or works engineering department.
  • Subject matter expertise and detailed demonstrable knowledge of Electrical machinery and systems
  • Experience and knowledge of SCADA systems [ prodigy plantrun]
  • Experience of reading technical drawings
  • Understanding of Risk Assessments and statutory compliance
  • Experience in the development and rollout of site maintenance plans, processes and procedures.
  • IT proficient Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Desirable:

  • Experience of leading a team
  • Experience of PLCs
  • Qualified to 18th Edition or a relevant HNC/HND such as Electrical Engineering
