L3Harris in Brighton are part of Release Systems and the Mission Avionics sector operating in the Aerospace domain. Our mission-critical release systems equipment is on most major airborne fighter platforms worldwide, including the F-35, along with other aircraft like the Gripen and Typhoon. Brighton designs, manufactures and tests a large portion of its release systems portfolio. This facility offers 48,500 square feet of manufacturing space for the development of high-performance, multi-station solutions used to launch air-to-air and air-to-ground munitions from bay, wing or fuselage stations.

    What the role will involve

    The responsibilities of your role will include the following:

  • Liaise with all other technical specialisations within the Design Office to produce coherent and comprehensive design solutions.

  • Convert schemes into working assemblies and detail drawings.

  • Produce drawings, modifications and other appropriate Company documents.

  • Supply engineering information to enable the compilation of Maintenance Manuals, Illustrated Parts Lists, Service Bulletins and Maintenance Schedules for Technical Publications

  • Work in close co-operation with Mechanical Enigineering, Production Engineering and Production Departments to ensure smooth implementation of design requirements.

  • Participate in the efficient and timely resolution of internal design enquiries.

  • Answer internal department queries regarding materials and processes.

  • Undertaking any special tasks as directed by management.

  • Issue and distribute technical information

  • Actively manage the Configuration Control of all data packs, including the implementation of Design Change Requests (DCRs).

    What you’ll bring

    The role requires the following experience and skills:

  • Minimum Level 3 BTEC / National Certificate in Engineering discipline and prior related experience

  • Knowledge of Machine Shop Practice / Experience in Machine Shop.

  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry

  • Experience with reading and creating engineering drawings to BS8888.

  • Have proven experience within Product Design and 3D CAD (SolidWorks - preferable)

  • Mechanical detailing (some electrical knowledge – preferable)

  • Preferable Level 4 BTEC / Higher National Certificate in Engineering discipline or equivalent.
