Design Engineer/Draughtsperson

  • Design and create innovative capacitor solutions, from concept to production, with hands-on factory work.
    Ideally the successful candidate will work between the 2 local sites spending 3 days per week in Great Yarmouth and 2 days in Norwich
    Role breakdown:-
  • Design of sheet metal cases
  • Fabrication and manufacturing drawings for special products.
  • 3d models with parametric modelling
  • Production procedures
  • Bushing and terminal stud design
  • Jigs and fixtures to aid in manufacture.
  • Quote drawings.
  • Design of High voltage test equipment.
    My client are the UK leading designer and manufacturer of high-quality capacitors for power electronic applications. They are part of a holdings group which include sister companies in Norwich, one design and manufacture motors and generators, the other supply steel mill and mining equipment and in West Yorkshire are suppliers of bespoke stonework cladding for buildings
    The role would primarily be the creation of capacitor production drawings, from sheet metal parts to wound elements. The role would also entail getting involved in design of custom high voltage test rigs, jigs to aid manufacture and quote drawings for the sales team. You would have the opportunity to see products from cradle to grave providing efficient, reliable designs for customers.
    Ideal candidate:-
    Previous draughting experience, ideally in sheet metal work and machined components. Also willing to consider a driven and enthusiastic graduate engineer
    Degree qualified or HNC/HND in engineering or equivalent
    Solid works or Inventor experience.
    Keen interest in manufacture as job will be based in the factory with regular contact with shopfloor.
    Confident in own design work as would be responsible for all design drawings in the factory and joining in with weekly production meetings.
    Knowledge of drawing control procedures, ideally via PDM
    Basic electrical knowledge.
    Interest in capacitors.
