Location: Durham

Job Type: Full-Time / Part-Time / Flexible Supply

Start Date: Immediate Start Available

Rates: £95-£110 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)

Teaching Personnel are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Cover Supervisor to join our team and support learning across Secondary Schools in Durham. This role is ideal for individuals who are confident, organised, and passionate about working with young people across Key Stages 3 and 4.

The successful candidate will supervise classes during the short-term absence of the regular teacher, ensuring that students remain on task and complete the work set. You will provide guidance, manage behaviour effectively, and promote a positive learning environment in line with the school's values and policies.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Supervise student learning during lessons, making sure assigned tasks are finished
  • Create a settled and productive classroom environment following the school's behavioural expectations
  • Share observations about student participation, achievement, and behaviour with teaching staff
  • Organize classroom resources, hand out learning materials, and assist pupils as needed


Person Specification:


  • GCSE qualifications (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics as minimum requirement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities
  • Competence in overseeing classroom dynamics and encouraging student motivation
  • Self-assurance when providing direction across diverse subject areas
  • Adaptable, constructive mindset and dedication to youth development
