Workshop Based - Milton Keynes

Basic Hours: 7am- 5pm Monday to Friday.

Overtime Rate: Mon-Fri (+ 1/3), Sat (+ ½), Sun (Double Time).

Main Objective 'Corian Fabricator’: to apply a thermoforming technique to construct bespoke surfaces with acylic solid surface, such as 'Corian' for joinery and furniture items. To use a variety of workshop machinery and hand tools to ensure a quality finish to the item.

We require a solid surface fabricator to work alongside our existing, in our busy joinery workshop. Someone who has meticulous attention to detail, and who will always see things through to completion. Someone who is honest, reliable, and confident with their tools.

Reporting to the workshop foreman the successful candidate will undertake the fabrication and installations of Corian and other solid surface materials. A good standard of skill and experience with solid surface fabrication materials is essential. Bench Joinery experience is desirable.

Key Responsibilities ‘Corian Fabricator’:

  • Work from 2D AutoCAD drawings to prepare, construct and manufacture joinery items to drawing specification. Items include but are not limited to, Reception Desks, Reception Feature Wall Panelling, Tea Point Worktops, Islands and Splashbacks (commercial kitchens), Vanity Units.

  • Plan sequence of cutting or shaping operations to be performed.

  • Create accurate cutting lists to coordinate with CNC operator to program.

  • Consider appropriate joining methods and components for application.

  • Work with internal teams to explore innovative construction methods and suitable materials.

  • Use of machinery and hand powered tools (hand routers, random orbital sander, and panel saws).

  • Fabricate solid surfaces from technical drawings, making templates and formers from working drawings.

  • Fabricate surfaces from materials such as Corian, Duresein, Staron, construction grade ply, MDF and solid Timber products.

  • Renovate, and repair joinery and traditional furniture.

  • Prepare, sand, finish and assemble joinery and furniture to a high standard.

    Skills & Attributes 'Corian Fabricator’:

  • Mathematically skilled, with the ability to use basic measuring equipment accurately.

  • A quick learner, who can maintain focus and a high level of accuracy, whilst under pressure and to tight deadlines.

  • Can apply self-initiative to work independently as well as work well in a team.

  • Well organized and works methodically, with good time management.

  • Good verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrates Knowledge of joinery manufacturing techniques, common materials, components, and construction methods.

    Essential Requirements ‘Corian Fabricator’:

  • Must be able to read measurements off 2D Auto CAD technical joinery drawings.

  • Must be skilled/trained to fabricate solid surface materials for manufacture.

  • Must be able to operate woodworking machinery and hand tools with confidence.

  • Own full set of own hand tools; including chisel, block plane & electric drill. (can be built on)

  • Knowledgeable of manufacturing/assembly techniques.

    Desirable:

  • CSCS Blue/Green Card (not essential)

  • Level 3 NVQ/ diploma in Bench Joinery or equivalent (not essential)
