Pay: per hour, rising to per hour after probation (plus £2589 per annum London Allowance)

Do you want to work in a place where your team values you? Do you have a positive attitude and the desire to learn and succeed?

This is a great opportunity for someone with a high level of integrity to develop within Loomis UK - one of the market leaders in our industry.

Who are we?

Loomis UK has a strong national presence and is part of the Loomis Group – a worldwide leader in the security sector. We provide secure, end-to-end solutions for the distribution, handling, and storage of cash and valuables for banks, retailers, and other businesses. From intelligent safes and cash-in-transit services to cash processing and ATM replenishment, we play a vital role in supporting the everyday flow of money in society.

The role

As a Loomis Control Room Operative, you will coordinate and monitor daily transport routes using planning and tracking tools, ensuring compliance with operational and legislative requirements. You’ll liaise closely with both internal teams and external partners to support service delivery and maintain high standards of efficiency and security. Responsibilities also include managing vehicle tracking, issuing equipment and access codes, processing administrative documentation, and maintaining accurate records. Additionally, you'll be responsible for opening and closing the branch, overseeing control room security, reporting incidents.

While this is primarily a branch-based role, you may occasionally be required to support airside operations at Heathrow or Gatwick, covering driver shortages and undertaking road duties when necessary. Therefore, an existing HGV licence is highly desirable.

If you're a logical thinker, safety-conscious, and a strong team player, this role could be a great fit for you!

Please

About you

You’ll be a confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills, capable of working independently as well as part of a close-knit team. With a logical approach to problem-solving, you’re comfortable managing change in a fast-paced environment and can prioritise tasks effectively to meet tight deadlines. Your time management and organisational skills are second to none, and you're confident using IT systems to plan, monitor, and report on operational activity.

Ideally, you’ll bring knowledge of transport legislation and may have previous experience in roles such as Driver Guard, Vault Operative, or within a related industry. A full UK driving licence is essential, and while an HGV licence and SIA accreditation are advantageous, we can support you in achieving the latter if not already held.

The values of our organisation - People, Service, Integrity - are fundamental to shaping our culture and the way we manage our business.

We also have some specific security criteria that you will need to meet:

You must be able to pass criminal record, personal credit and ID checks

You must have verifiable 10-year employment/unemployment/educational history

You must have a current UK driving licence

You must be approved to attain an SIA licence. Joining us with an existing CVIT SIA licence will automatically qualify you for the post-probation rate of pay, as well as a £1,000 bonus. If you don’t hold one already, you will be required to attain a licence (paid for by us) during your probation period

In return we offer the following:

24 days holiday per year (excluding bank holidays)

A 12-week induction and training programme (The Loomis Way)

Life Assurance

Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)

A safe and supportive culture

Full uniform and PPE

MyRewards – over 3000 discounts for everyday life

Why Space Careers in the UK Are Becoming More Multidisciplinary

The UK’s space sector is growing fast — from satellite systems and Earth observation to satellite communications, space robotics, propulsion, space data analytics, and mission operations. But the nature of space work is changing. Projects involving satellites, launch systems, space robotics and ground infrastructure are now embedded in regulation, public perception, human interaction and cross-disciplinary design. Space careers in the UK used to be dominated by engineers, astrophysicists, systems analysts and telemetry experts. Today, they increasingly demand fluency not only in aerospace, software, electronics & data, but also in law, ethics, psychology, linguistics & design. After all, space systems operate under treaties, privacy constraints, public scrutiny, international collaborations and human interfaces. In this article, we explore why space careers in the UK are becoming more multidisciplinary, how those allied fields intersect with space work, and what job-seekers & employers must do to thrive in this evolving cosmos.

UK Space Team Structures Explained: Who Does What in a Modern Space Department

The UK space sector is rapidly expanding. With growth in satellite design, Earth observation, communications, launch systems, space science, downstream applications, and regulatory and operational services, there’s rising demand for skilled professionals across many disciplines. Building a high-impact space organisation requires well-defined team structures, clear roles, strong collaboration, and alignment across engineering, science, operations, regulation, and commercial functions. If you are applying for roles via UKSpaceJobs.co.uk or hiring into your company, this guide will help you understand the principal roles you’ll find in a space team, how they interact during mission lifecycles, what skills UK employers expect, salary norms, common challenges, and best practice for structuring space teams that succeed.
