Morrison Water Services Ltd are currently looking to recruit a Control and Automation Engineer to work on our Scottish Water DV2 Framework working across a wide portfolio of projects. The role is based in our Stepps, Glasgow office reporting to the MWS Head of Pre-Construction and may involve travel to sites as required.
As a Control and Automation Engineer you will be you will be working as part of the Engineering Team, responsible for managing Systems (MCC/PLC/SCADA Etc.) aspects of the clean & wastewater projects within the capital delivery works Programme.
MGroup Services is the UK’s largest provider of essential infrastructure services through long-term framework agreements to the electricity, water, and gas sectors across the UK & Ireland.
Morrison Water Services is the largest division within MGS and works across the UK delivering water, wastewater, infrastructure, and non-infrastructure projects for a large proportion of the UK water industry.
The MWS Scotland region currently delivers a number of frameworks for Scottish Water including the Infrastructure Capital programme and the MEICA replacement operational alliance DV2 Lot 4 (this role). In addition, IDS deliver further specialist frameworks for Scottish Water as well for a portfolio of non-regulated clients. The business is currently at c. £130m p.a with further growth planned.
The DV2 Lot 4 MEICA replacement framework is a 6-year programme (2021-2027) with an option to extend for a further 6 years. The contract delivers a diverse range of design & construction projects (£100k - £4m) including the replacement of MEICA equipment, associated civil engineering works, specialist control & automation, SCADA and telemetry works. Annual volume £25m-£40m.
As a Control and Automation Engineer your duties & responsibilities will include:
Working within a multi-disciplinary team on projects focussing primarily on water & wastewater control system replacement, M&E capital maintenance and growth projects. Supporting Project Managers with knowledge to complete design and project engineering deliverables within the Pre-Construction phase and Delivery phase. Plan, execute, monitor and control engineering output for projects in terms of scope, time, cost, quality, resource, communications, risk, and stakeholder management. Balance the needs of multiple projects. Leadership & responsible for the overall technical coordination and production of multi-disciplinary outputs and designs for specified team. Actively coordinates with all other internal/external project team members. Participate in or be in front client meetings. Ensure engineering team understand & apply with the requirements of the MWS Management Systems including Health & safety, Environmental and all other appropriate regulations. Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts. Check design approach, calculations, drawings and documents. Keep up to date with industry best practice and where appropriate identify innovation/best practice for consideration.
Skills & Knowledge Requirements:
Preferably Electrical Degree / HND / HNC or equivalent in engineering or related discipline Conversant with Microsoft applications; Word, Excel, Word Experience in design development for clean / wastewater non infrastructure would be desirable. Experience in the production of control philosophy and functional design specification documents Experience in the production of migration strategy documents. Chartered or Incorporated (CEng/IEng) or working towards would be desirable. Leadership skills to manage EICA bias design/engineering teams & create positive change. Previous utility industry knowledge and experience is desirable but not essential. Ability to liaise and engage with clients and key stakeholders. Provide mentoring, guidance and technical advice to support and supervise junior staff. Proven ability to work within a team environment with a dedicated approach to meet project deadlines. Good written and oral communication and organisational skills. Computer literate and conversant with the MS Office suite.
