JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Commercial Gas Engineer to carry out mobile maintenance works to join our team in London and surrounding areas.

This role will involve servicing, maintaining, and troubleshooting combustion systems and mechanical equipment in a variety of mobile settings, ensuring they are operating at optimum efficiency and in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. The successful candidate will possess a strong technical background in combustion engineering and mechanical systems, with the ability to work independently in a dynamic, mobile environment. Our client base is Managing agents of commercial office blocks & industrial units, Retail & Student Accommodation

JOB RESPONSBILITIES

  • Combustion System Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
    • Conduct regular service, maintenance, and repair of combustion and mechanical systems in various mobile units, including vehicles, engines, and industrial equipment.
    • Diagnose and resolve issues related to combustion processes, fuel systems, and exhaust systems.
    • Perform combustion optimization and efficiency tests, including emission monitoring and reduction strategies.
  • Mechanical System Maintenance:
    • Oversee the mechanical integrity of mobile systems, ensuring they are in peak operational condition.
    • Perform mechanical repairs, replacements, and upgrades on engines, pumps, and other mechanical components.
  • Installation & Commissioning:
    • Install, test, and commission combustion and mechanical equipment for new or upgraded systems in mobile settings.
    • Ensure proper calibration and setup of systems to meet performance specifications.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Adhere to all relevant safety regulations, standards, and codes of practice when working with combustion systems and mechanical equipment.
    • Regularly inspect and monitor systems to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
    • Keep up to date with the latest combustion and mechanical engineering standards and best practices.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    • Maintain detailed records of all maintenance, repairs, inspections, and testing performed.
    • Provide accurate and timely reports to management on system performance, maintenance schedules, and identified issues.
  • Client Interaction:
    • Engage with clients directly during service visits to discuss system performance, offer recommendations, and explain technical solutions.
    • Provide excellent customer service and technical support to clients, ensuring satisfaction and building long-term relationships.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for improving combustion and mechanical systems to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and meet environmental targets.
    • Stay informed of emerging technologies and industry trends, incorporating them into operational practices where appropriate

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education:
    • ACS Commercial Gas Qualifications (COCN1, CIGA1, CDGA1, CORT1, ICPN1A) - Essential
    • Gas Safe Registration - Essential
    • Full Uk Driving Licence - Essential
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a combustion or mechanical engineering role, previous experience working with a facilities management company is a plus.
    • Proven experience with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of combustion systems (e.g., burners, boilers, gas fired water heaters etc).
    • Hands-on experience with mechanical/pressurised systems, including pumps, and associated mechanical components.
    • Previous experience working in the field or on-site (mobile or remote) is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of combustion processes, fuel systems, and emission control technologies.
    • Proficiency in diagnostic tools and techniques for combustion and mechanical systems.
    • Familiarity with modern mechanical engineering software and systems for diagnostics, analysis, and maintenance planning.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and autonomously.
    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical clients.
    • Customer-focused with a commitment to providing high-quality service.
    • Excellent time management and organizational skills to manage mobile workload efficiently.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel regularly within London and surrounding areas.
    • Ability to work in outdoor or remote locations and adapt to changing work environments.
    • Participate in an on-call rota to provide emergency response services outside of normal working hours.
    • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and ability to work in compliance with legal and safety standards.

SALARY & BENEFITS

  • £50k - £55k (DOE)
