Global aerospace and defence contracting business require a Commercial Director. Applicants need deep Commercial Contracts Management experience within aerospace or defence, the ability to lead, strategise and be hands-on.

The Commercial Director will be responsible for leading all commercial contract management activities across their assigned business stream, from bids/proposals, in life and close-out. Leading a small team, this Commercial Director role is an excellent opportunity for a senior commercial leader, looking to combine complex strategic activities with hands-on commercial/deal generating tasks.

Specific duties of the Commercial Director include:

Provide leadership to a team of Commercial Managers and Senior Commercial Officers
Develop commercial and negotiation strategies for new and existing bids/programmes
Establishing and nurturing customer relationships (UK MOD, Export)
Development of proposals and support at bid stage
Contract management and change management of existing contracts and programmes; mitigating risk and maximizing profitability
Advise business and serve as a subject matter expert for all contracting issues, upstream and downstream
Development of strategic relationships; customers, suppliers, intermediaries and stakeholders

Commercial Director applicants should meet the following criteria:

Deep experience in commercial contract management within the defence and aerospace industry
Experience across both UK MOD and export customers
Leadership abilities and gravitas
Previous experience managing commercial contract management professionals
Commercially-savvy, ability to "close a deal" and drive this culture
