Known for producing high-specification, tight-tolerance components, the company is expanding its manufacturing capacity and is now seeking an experienced CNC Turn/Mill Operator to join its evening shift team.

Job Profile

The CNC Turn/Mill Operator will be responsible for setting up and running CNC lathes and milling machines to produce components that meet customer and engineering specifications. The role requires a technically capable machinist with strong attention to detail, confident working from technical drawings and using precision measurement tools.

Key Responsibilities / Duties

  • Set up and operate CNC turning and milling machines according to operation instructions and drawings.

  • Load and verify the correct CNC programmes for gear cutting operations.

  • Ensure proper clamping and secure loading of products for machining.

  • Adjust machine parameters and change tooling as necessary between production runs.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings to machine parts to required specifications.

  • Conduct in-process inspections using micrometers, verniers, and other precision tools.

  • Monitor the condition of machine components, ensuring no damage prior to operation. Report tool damage promptly.

  • Run multiple machines when batch size or part design allows.

  • Maintain output levels while adhering to quality and dimensional standards.

  • Support colleagues and contribute to the smooth running of the department.

  • Work in accordance with the company’s quality system and procedures.

  • Maintain punctuality and communicate any issues to supervisors without delay.

  • Adhere to health and safety regulations and complete training as required.

    Requirements / Skills

    Essential:

  • 3–5 years’ experience in a similar CNC machining role.

  • Proficient in the use of measurement equipment such as micrometers and verniers.

  • Strong ability to interpret and work from technical engineering drawings.

  • Solid mathematical and technical skills.

  • Experience with systematic problem solving.

  • Strong attention to detail and quality orientation.

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

  • Quick to learn, adaptable, and proactive in approach.

  • Able to meet production targets and work to deadlines.
