We build and operate automated factories for composite materials, delivering components to Tier 1 and OEMs. The business has 3 main divisions that focus on the development of automated production machines, development of software design and production tools and lastly the operation of the factory.

Now working with >25 customers (multiple leading OEMs) and earlier this year we completed the largest ever Series A in composites manufacturing (link) to fuel a significant scale-up with growth plans that will see the business multiply in size over the next 2-3 years and expand operations into Europe and the US.

The business currently has facilities in Gloucester UK (Factory 1), Bristol UK (Hardware R&D Centre) and in Athens GR (Software R&D Centre).

As a CNC 5 Axis Machinist at iCOMAT, you will be responsible for producing precision components according to technical specifications. You will work closely with the engineering and production teams to ensure efficient and accurate manufacturing processes.


What will you be doing? 

  • Analyze and interpret customer requirements from CAD models and drawings to develop efficient tooling and machining strategies.
  • Create fixtures and tooling designs to ensure the next stage of the process works efficiently, repetitively, and meets required tolerances.
  • Select appropriate cutter paths, cutting tools, speeds, and feeds based on material properties and machining requirements.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance production efficiency, reduce cycle times, and ensure high yield and quality output.
  • Conduct simulations and test runs to validate machining processes and make necessary adjustments to ensure optimal performance.
  • Work closely with machinists, engineers, and other team members to resolve technical issues and ensure seamless production workflows.
  • Provide and maintain detailed documentation of setup sheets and process parameters for future reference and continuous improvement.


What do we need from you? 

  • Experience in CNC machining is essential (including 5-axis and gantry 5 axis).
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, materials, and tooling.
  • High level of precision and attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve machining issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
