As a vital member of our multi-site Clinical Neurophysiology services, you will play a key role in our commitment to quality improvement as we pursue UKAS accreditation.

What We Offer:

  • Comprehensive Training:Our department actively participates in STP and HSST training, with opportunities to mentor Year 3 and Year 1 clinical scientist trainees, as well as a Year 2 Consultant Scientist Trainee. You will be an integral part of this training journey!
  • Diverse Investigations:We provide a full range of neurophysiological investigations for both adults and children, including Electroencephalography (EEG), Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS), multi-modal Evoked Potentials (EPs), Ambulatory, and Video-Telemetry. Plus, we have exciting plans for in-house intra-operative monitoring in the future!


We are looking for someone with excellent communication and teamwork skills who can collaborate effectively with the Lead Clinical Physiologist and other healthcare professionals to enhance our service provision.

Newly qualified clinical scientists awaiting HCPC registration are encouraged to apply!

Main duties of the job:

  • Competent and confident in performing a range of neurophysiological investigations in dedicated and non-dedicated environments, on adult and paediatric patients.
  • Responsible for taking appropriate action during patient investigations if serious abnormalities are identified.
  • Able to interpret results accurately and produce high-quality reports in a timely manner.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare providers for the smooth and efficient running of the service.
  • Able to participate in STP training and education of junior and other staff groups.
  • Able to participate in quality assurance and improvement, audit, research and development.

Person Specification:
Education/Qualifications:
Essential:

  • BSc Clinical Physiology (Neurophysiology) or equivalent formal specialist training (other appropriate qualifications e.g. BTEC HND/C in MPPM/or equivalent experience + professional exam ECNE Part I & Part II or MSc Clinical Science in Neurophysiology gained as part of the STP plus knowledge of specialist procedures acquired through additional courses, training or experience).


Desirable:

  • RCCP, HCPC or AHSC registration.


Experience:
Essential:

  • Broad experience of at least 3 years.
  • Can perform a range of investigations including routine, sleep-deprived, prolonged and portable EEGs without supervision and provide an accurate report.
  • Experience in long term monitoring, including diagnostic video-telemetry & Ambulatory EEG.
  • Undertakes all modalities of EPs and NCS (without supervision).
  • Experience of teaching or supervising students or Trainees.
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience of the daily management of defined work area.


Desirable:

  • Experience of IOM acquisitions.


Skills/Abilities:
Essential:

  • Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate and relate well to all patients including babies & children.
  • Good computer skills and technological competence including knowledge of Windows, and Office computer software.
