Shifts Available: 12-hour day shifts (0900-2100) on a rolling rota basis (Maternity Cover)

Job Description

What you'll do

We’re looking for a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Care Assistant to support a gentleman with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in his home and out in the community.

He leads an active, fulfilling life and is seeking the right person to join his team. He enjoys music, films, gaming, sport, and exploring Cornwall and occasionally goes on UK-based holidays.

This is a varied and rewarding role where you’ll provide a mix of personal care, practical support, and social companionship.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Delivering respectful and dignified personal care
  • Managing and maintaining ventilation equipment (full training provided)
  • Supporting with meal preparation and feeding
  • Carrying out light domestic tasks to maintain a clean, safe home
  • Administering medication and attending medical/personal appointments
  • Supporting access to the community and leisure activities, including:
    • Trips around Cornwall
    • Listening to music, watching films, and gaming
    • Going to the theatre and cinema
    • Eating out at cafes and restaurants
    • UK-based holidays and short breaks
Qualifications

What you'll need:

  • full UK driving licence – driver is essential
  • Comfortable working in a non-smoking environment
  • Kind, reliable, and enthusiastic
  • Interest in music, entertainment, games, or sports is a bonus
  • Willingness to follow detailed care plans and learn new skills
  • No experience necessary – full training provided
