Our client, an innovative aerospace technology company in the UK is currently looking to hire a Battery Test Technician. The successful candidate will perform and support battery testing above cell level, working with prototype components and high-voltage systems as part of the battery development team.
 
The Battery Test Technician will:

Perform and document battery testing activities, including mechanical, thermal, and electrical performance tests such as long-term electrical cycling, abuse testing, vibration, and climatic testing.
Set up, monitor, and shut down tests, including configuring instrumentation and data logging equipment, while ensuring accurate data collection and system diagnostics.
Assemble mechanical and electrical components to technical specifications, troubleshoot issues, and maintain high-quality standards throughout all testing procedures.
Support the development of risk assessments and standard operating procedures, contributing to a strong safety culture within the battery testing environment.
Collaborate with external test facilities and suppliers, assist with test rig design and maintenance, and provide feedback to the design team on test results and process improvements.
Conduct battery pack teardowns, inspections, and fault analysis, while maintaining detailed documentation, tracking defects, and supporting report writing and test definitions.  
The Battery Test Technician will have:

At least 3 years’ experience in a high-tech engineering environment.
HND / BEng / equivalent on the job training.
Previous experience of high voltage live working advantageous.
Experience of working with and around HV batteries and batteries testing and an understanding of testing methods, instrumentation/calibration requirements, health and safety considerations and data acquisition.
Automotive, industrial or aerospace background.
Experience of operating laboratory equipment such as climatic chambers, data loggers (such as Dewesoft, Vector CANalyzer, Vector CANoe, PICO, Lab View), shaker tables, power supplies (High Voltage and Low Voltage)
