Job summary

Do you want to work in a busy department that is committed to providing a quality service that focuses on patient care and experience? This is your opportunity to join our diverse pharmacy teams at Good Hope and Heartlands Hospitals. Full time positions are available at both sites along with part time positions at Heartlands for weekday rotational and weekend reception cover.

You will:

*Assist in the delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients within the Trust through the provision of a safe and efficient pharmacy service

*Provide a comprehensive reception service, greeting our service users and taking in work confidently and accurately.

*Provide proficient medicines stock maintenance and distribution to wards and satellite pharmacies

You will be involved in maintaining the Pharmacy Service to wards and departments on a rotational basis.

You must be an enthusiastic and astute individual to join our busy team. Self-motivated and flexible, you will have excellent organisational and communication skills. You'll also have the ability to work effectively both independently and with the existing team.

This post offers in-service development training and the opportunity to gain further qualifications including the NVQ Level 2 Award in Pharmacy Services.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

*To interpret and accurately dispense prescriptions and requests for medication

*To participate in stock supply to wards and departments and re-order as necessary

*To receive goods into the department, unpack, check and put away deliveries against relevant paperwork

*To act as front of house on reception, greeting customers and receiving in work

*To participate in the induction and training of staff

There will be a requirement to participate in extended hours; including weekend working, bank holidays and late nights on a rotational basis.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

*Educated to Secondary School standard *GCSEs C/4 or above (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English *Holds or is willing to work towards an NVQ level 2 Certificate in Pharmacy Service Skills (QCF) and BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Pharmaceutical Science

Desirable

*Accredited Dispensing Assistants course

Experience

Essential

*Evidence of previous work experience relevant to the position such as warehouse or stores, reception duties etc *Evidence of experience within a team environment *Experienced in customer relations *Understanding of Health and Safety at Work, manual handling and COSHH *Understanding of dispensing, stock control and supply systems and processes

Desirable

*Previous experience within a pharmacy setting *Knowledge of hospital environment *Knowledge of pharmacy environment *Understanding of pharmacy related computer systems

Additional Criteria

*Strong attention to detail *Reliable *Punctual *Enthusiastic *Ability to travel to all UHB sites *Able to work under close supervision *Flexible to work in accordance with service needs *Committed to abide by the Trust vision and values *Able to lift moderate weights (up to 15kg)
