Position: Area Sales Engineer

Location: Scotland

Salary: c.£50k + Bonus + Company Car

The Company/ Sector: Cutting Tools

Responsibilities:

  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting the current sales team within a geographical area of Scotland West & Central and additionally South Scotland

  • Support customers to give technical assistance within the current customer base

  • Report to sales manager on progress of projects & sales pipeline opportunities

  • Working in collaboration with current technical team provide customers with technical reports and cost saving opportunities

  • Work on own initiative to generate new opportunities

  • Be part of a team that can respond to the requirements of customers

  • Provide product improvement ideas to customers

  • To work with the sales team and local management on the opportunities within the customer base in the geographical area or territory

  • Develop good working relationships with relevant stakeholders in both new and existing customers

  • Work with existing customer and newly developed customers to sell cutting & machining products and solutions

  • Develop a pipeline of new business opportunities, leveraging the competencies across the business unit to meet and exceed customer requirements

  • Work alongside the group application engineers, other Cutting & Machining businesses and manufacturers to provide on and off-site technical support

  • Be accountable for your territory, retain existing customers, negotiate contractual agreements and drive profitable sales growth from both new and existing customers

  • Provide customers with tangible and measured cost savings – reducing machining times, increasing tool life, improving productivity and optimising efficiency

  • Recommend appropriate solutions for the customer requirement, e.g., vending & managed inventory solutions

  • Work towards established KPIs and sales targets as set by the business and your Line Manager

    Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the Aerospace, Oil & Gas & Automotive industries and their relevant components and materials is vital.

  • A good knowledge of cutting tools and programming strategies is also required, however training will be provided on products supplied to the company by various suppliers.

  • The ideal candidate will have had experience of working within an engineering environment and has experience of working on their own initiative.

  • CNC programming knowledge is also preferred.

  • Ideal person would be already working in this industry sector but candidates who currently are in a machining or in a production environment with a desire to move into a technical sales role may be considered

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Technically excellent with an extensive knowledge of metal cutting and machining processes

  • Resourceful and problem-solving skills

  • Competent in IT skills

  • Knowledge of CADCAM and its features would be beneficial
