The Company

Our client is a leading organisation in the engineering sector, specialising in satellite communication (satcom) projects and high-tech engineering solutions. They provide expertise in the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical and mechanical infrastructure, control systems, radio frequency, and IP networks. This apprenticeship offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop technical skills within an established and innovative company.

 

The Position

Job Title:

Apprentice Technician

Apprenticeship Course:

Level 3 Information Communication Technician – Digital Pathway

Apprenticeship Duration:

18 Months + 3 months for EPA

Location:

Basingstoke, Hampshire

Working Hours:

37.5 hours per week (Monday – Friday 8.30am – 5pm with 1 hour lunch)

Salary:

£15,000 per annum

 

 

Role and Responsibilities:

 

·      Support and gain expertise in SATCOM projects, including the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical and mechanical infrastructure, control systems, RF, and IP networks.

·      Develop a deeper understanding of the equipment repaired by our client, enhancing both technical and practical knowledge.

·      Utilise RF and telecoms test equipment to support engineering activities.

·      Develop fault-finding skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.

·      Gain application knowledge in IP networks, video transmission, RF systems, and system building/testing.

·      Adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations and company policies to prevent workplace accidents and injuries.

·      Identify potential hazards in the workplace and implement measures to mitigate risks.

·      Maintain high standards of work quality and ensure compliance with company procedures and standards.

·      A interest/background in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM subjects), demonstrating strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.

·      Travel as required for the role(a full UK driving licence is essential).
