Job Description Electronics Test Engineer Ref. 952/n/n This role is available full-time for 37 hours per week orpart-time with a minimum coverage of 28 hours per week Monday toFriday Flexible or compressed working hours available This role isbased in the office. /n/n Your work in testing electronics can helpprotect national security. /n/n Want to know how? /n/n As anengineer, you know how important it is that products work asthey’re designed to and meet the needs of the customer. Now imaginethat product is used by the UK government to help keep our countrysafe. Your role doesn’t get much more vital than that. /n/n You’llengage with end users to understand their requirements to developappropriate test solutions, conduct a range of lab tests andreal-world trials, to assure them that your products will work whenthey need them to. Whilst progressing tests, you'll detail resultsand capture product behaviour, providing timely updates tostakeholders; this work culminates with your technical report,which is key to the assessment of whether your products are readyto be deployed. /n/n You’ll work across a broad range oftechnologies, including RF, cellular and GPS, and technicalcapabilities, such as tracking, audio and video systems, at variousstages in the lifecycle and have a hand in defining the evaluationapproach for the organisation. To facilitate this crucial work, youwill at times need to lift heavy test equipment of up to 25kg whichis manageable with two people lifting. /n/n Your developmentthroughout your career will be supported through coaching andmentoring on the job, as well as training courses andaccreditation. /n/n More About You /n/n To apply for this role, youwill already have: /n/n /n/n - An HND or equivalent experience inElectronics/Communications engineering or related occupational./n/n - Experience of performing electronics tests and measurements./n/n - Experience of documenting test results and procedures. /n/n- A full UK car driving licence. /n/n /n/n It would be beneficialif you also have one of the following (although these are notessential): /n/n /n/n - Experience in any one of the followingdisciplines: /n/n /n/n - RF systems and antennas - Cellular &Wireless technology (5G, LTE, UMTS, GSM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) - GlobalNavigation Satellite Systems (GPS, GLONASS or Galileo) - Audio andVideo technology /n/n /n/n - Experience of developing test plans orconducting user trials. /n/n - Experience of technical reportwriting. /n/n - Ability to provide guidance, coaching or trainingto support the development of less experienced engineers. /n/n /n/nYour Personal Skills /n/n You will be someone who: /n/n /n/n -Applies a sound engineering methodology to their work. /n/n -Establishes professional relationships with a range of colleagues./n/n - Communicates in a straightforward, open and engaging manner,choosing appropriate styles to maximise understanding and impact./n/n - Identifies risks and resolves issues efficiently. /n/n -Anticipates changes and acts promptly to reassess workloads andpriorities when there are conflicting or urgent demands. /n/n -Identifies strengths and gaps in skills and knowledge for yourself./n/n - Encourages experimentation and ideas for change from a widerange of sources. /n/n - Considers different individual needs,views and ideas, championing inclusion and equality of opportunityfor all. /n/n /n/n Putting your skills to use /n/n Using yourdiverse range of skills within the Electronics Test team, you will:/n/n /n/n - Evaluate products to determine if they are fit fortheir intended purpose. /n/n - Understand customer requirements./n/n - Develop appropriate test strategies. /n/n - Conductverification and validation tests. /n/n - Perform field trials inrepresentative environments. /n/n - Produce accurate and impartialtechnical reports in plain English. /n/n - Manage relationshipswith customers and commercial suppliers. /n/n /n/n What we offer/n/n Now that we’ve explained a bit about what you will we bedoing, here’s what we can offer you: /n/n /n/n - 25 days annualleave, rising to 30 after 5 years’ service. /n/n - 8 Bank Holidaydays off in addition to your annual leave. /n/n - 2 ½ additionaldays leave (set dates through the year). /n/n - Paid overtime ortime off in lieu.
