Application Engineer – Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and technically proficient Application Engineer for our client who are a global leader in carbide cutting tools. This position plays a crucial role in supporting sales efforts and ensuring customer satisfaction by providing expert technical guidance and innovative solutions for cutting tools and related applications. The role would cover the M1 corridor from Leicester up to Sheffield.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the sales team to identify customer requirements and recommend optimal tooling solutions.

• Conduct product trials, demonstrations, and evaluations to support customer projects and internal development initiatives.

• Analyze machining processes and provide improvements that enhance productivity and efficiency.

• Serve as a technical liaison between customers, sales representatives, and internal departments.

• Deliver technical presentations, training sessions, and seminars for both internal staff and external customers.

• Assist in the development and customization of technical documentation, including application reports and case studies.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, competitive products, and emerging technologies.

Required Qualifications:

• Preferably a time served engineer with experience in the aerospace, oil & gas or automotive industries.

• Strong background in metal cutting applications, CNC machining, and milling.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

• Problem-solving mindset and a proactive, customer-oriented approach.

• Willingness to travel as needed to support customer and company requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in carbide tooling and precision machining environments.

• Familiarity with manufacturing processes across automotive, aerospace, or general engineering sectors.

• Previous experience working on the tools or in a technical support or field engineering role
