Our Aerospace client based in Shanghai, China, are looking to appoint a Nacelle Structures Design Engineer to be engaged on Structural, Acoustic and Composite Design on their Civil Aero Engines in Shanghai.

This will be a long term role. Fixed term contracts will be offered to the successful candidate. If you are interested to live and work in Asia, this opportunity will allow that to happen with plenty of time to explore this region, its culture and customs.

Job Description:

The Nacelle Structure Design Engineer will be responsible for the end-to-end design, optimization, and verification of nacelle structural components, including cutting-edge acoustic lining technologies. This includes structural modelling, material selection, manufacturability assessment, and airworthiness support.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead structural design of nacelle components such as inlet ducts, fan covers, thrust reversers, nozzles, and process nacelles.
Perform modeling, joint and material selection, tolerance chain calculations, and drawing preparation.
Analyze cost, weight, manufacturability, and assembly during design stages.
Define and manage nacelle structure requirements.
Support production trials, component testing, qualification, and compliance documentation.
Develop and manage structural standards, specifications, and design guidelines.
Drive R&D in advanced nacelle technologies, especially for CMC and thermoplastic acoustic linings.
Design, validate, and accept new structural prototypes; support airworthiness efforts.
Draft technical standards and participate in formulation of structural processes.
Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing, and testing departments.Qualifications:
Master’s degree preferred; exceptional bachelor’s candidates considered.
3+ years of experience in aerospace structural design.
Relevant degree in: Aero Engine, Gas Turbine, Mechanical Design, Aircraft Design, or Composite Materials.
Strong knowledge of:
Aircraft engine structure, mechanical systems, composite materials, CMCs, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics.
Skilled in 3D modelling software (UG, CATIA, PRO/E, SolidWorks), and PDM systems.
Familiar with sheet metal, composite, and machining processes.
Able to manage trial production and solve real-world production issues.
Understanding of quality and risk management e.g., DFMEA, 550 standard tools.
Experience in quality, system engineering, or configuration management is a plus.
Strong written technical communication skills; experience writing reports, patents, or papers is desirable.Preferred Background:
Candidates from Aero-engine International companies, Nacelle companies,  First Aircraft Institute China or similar aviation leaders.
Experience in designing air intake, thrust reverser, or acoustic nacelle structures highly preferred.  Candidates who are willing to live and work in Shanghai, China for 1 -3 years initial contract are invited to apply
