Reporting to the Technical Process Manager (Manufacturing), you will provide manufacturing engineering expertise to support shop floor operations at our client's plant, focusing on work instructions, tooling documentation, critical checks, and maintenance programs. Responsibilities include creating, reviewing, and improving process documentation and collaborating with the Operations team to address production defects and drive continuous development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To create and produce manufacturing work instructions and documentation, i.e. how tooling should be used in production, critical checks - based on tooling manufacturing designs developed within the department.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, IT, tooling, supply chain, maintenance to ensure successful project implementation.
  • With liaison with the rest of the technical team, investigate and develop new processes, methods, and layouts to increase equipment flexibility and improve throughput, within the OEM standard requirements.
  • Identifying process waste and proposing solutions.
  • Assist senior manufacturing engineers with project tasks to optimize workflow, manage resources, and ensure timely completion.
  • Supporting the TPM (M), investigate non-conformities and within the matric environment to alter tooling and or process until deficiency or unsatisfactory condition is corrected.
  • Analysing and reporting on production processes, methods, schedules, downtime, cycle times, availability of machines and waste management.
  • Provide valuable insights through KPI collection to help optimise efficiency and drive continuous improvement in manufacturing operations.
  • Coordinating maintenance and repair services to keep production equipment operational.
  • Supporting the TPM (M) with structured problem-solving projects linked to both project deliverables and day-to-day manufacturing issues.
  • Be compliant with the Company's Environmental, Health & Safety and Energy procedures.
  • Development of master data for tooling and equipment control in our SAP Computer system.
  • Conduct time and motion studies, workflow analysis, line balancing, capacity analysis and process mapping to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies.

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes Required:

  • Minimum qualification HND in a mechanical discipline, with significant CAD experience.
  • Higher qualification considered if able to demonstrate genuine interest in pursuing tool design.
  • Training in Lean manufacturing, Continuous improvement, and Statistical Process Control would be beneficial.
  • Highly Innovative, analytical, decisive, multi-tasked, and goal-oriented individual is required with the ability to manage time and resources.
  • Proven experience of creating and producing manufacturing work instructions and documentation, i.e. how tooling should be used in production, critical checks / inspection regimes.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and basic metrology skills.
  • Ability to understand the mechanical aspects of manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to communicate with both production staff and process engineering to understand requirements and its use.
  • Experience in a metal component processing, including surface finishing operations for Aerospace components.
  • Excellent IT knowledge (Understanding of MRP & ERP / MS Office products / CAD software - SolidWorks preferable).
  • Improve data gathering and analysis by leveraging digital systems and automation tools to enhance decision-making and drive process improvements.
  • Evaluate and implement automation technologies to optimise manufacturing processes, reduce cycle times, and improve product consistency.

Working Conditions:

  • The role requires flexibility in working hours based on business needs, including potential shift work, evenings, and weekends, particularly during critical project phases or product launches. Some duty travel may be considered necessary to cooperate with other station within the Group.
  • The role is office based, however day to day support of the plating shop will require significant time within this area and therefore the employee will be exposed to toxic and corrosive chemicals.
