They will be reporting to the Chief Mechanical Engineerand will provide sound knowledge in Systems Design Integration,being responsible for and having knowledge in problem resolution,defining requirements; designing and integrating products, physical& functional systems & product systems; performingtechnical analysis; verifying products, physical & functionalsystems, and components throughout the product lifecycle. What you will be doing: You will be responsible forauthoring, reviewing, and verifying Marine and Mechanical designsfor power distribution systems; you will: • Design of systems usingSystems Engineering principals including the use of Robust Designtools & techniques to achieve optimum solutions at product andsub-system level. • Problem resolution experience includingownership of, for example: root cause investigations, problemreports, Red Tops, Safety Alert Reports (SARs), Quality Concerns,Major Quality Investigations (MQIs), Drawing Alteration Requests(DARs). Dealing with ambiguity. • Applying knowledge of theimportance of determining, managing & flowing system levelrequirements. • Planning and management of product change, designtechnical approval and technical investigations. • Verifying thatthe system meets the requirements and ownership of standardisationreports. • Good inter-personal and presentation skills. Ability tocommunicate with and influence all levels including the customer. •Work with and co-ordinate extended (i.e. not necessarilyco-located) multi-disciplinary teams. Specifically, the Principal Mechanical Engineer must: Beeducated to degree level or equivalent in an appropriateengineering discipline with experience in design techniques. •Strong technical knowledge in mechanical design methodologies andunderstand crossdiscipline engineering concepts which include butare not limited to manufacturing engineering, aerodynamics,thermodynamics, thermal and mechanical analysis, cost engineeringand product definition. • An ability to apply logical, analytical,and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems and makebalanced decisions across technical and business parameters. •Knowledge and experience of product integrity / liability andcertification frameworks. • Good communication and presentationskills at all levels of the organisation. It would be advantageousif you: • Are professionally registered as an Incorporated orChartered Engineer or be working towards gaining a professionalstatus. • Have knowledge and experience in the use of Siemens NXand Teamcenter. • Are experienced in designing equipment to operateto naval, military, or similar environmental or regulatorystandards.
