Applied Psychologist posts – Paediatric Psychology and Liaison Service

Fixed Term - 12 Months

Please note: As one of these posts may be part-time, the salary will be pro-rata.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist to join the Paediatric Psychology and Liaison Service (PPALS) within the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (RHCYP).

PPALS provide assessment, treatment and care to children, young people and their parents/carers under the care of paediatric medical specialties on an in-patient and out-patient basis across NHS Lothian.

The postholder will provide highly specialist psychological assessment and formulation-based individual- and group- interventions across a range of psychological presentations in paediatric health psychology. They will also deliver clinical supervision, consultation and a collaborative role across services involved in the continuity of psychological care.

We are interested in hearing from applicants requiring full-time or part-time hours and/or considering secondment opportunities. The posts are fixed-term for 12 months. We welcome telephone enquiries to discuss these opportunities further.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.

Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check done than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a "regulated role", your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
