Research internship modelling the capillary structure of a satellite heat pipe. The intern will build a 2D axisymmetric macroscopic model in FEniCS coupling Darcy flow, conduction and phase change, compute effective permeability, conductivity and capillary pressure laws by cell problems, and optimise the porosity distribution with an adjoint gradient method. It is a preliminary step to a PhD on shape and topology optimisation for additive manufacturing.
